Spring 2015 Welcome Letter
With the start of the 2015 season only weeks away I wanted to take a moment to address several IMPORTANTadministrative items (PLEASE READ THIS IN ITS ENTIRETY). Most of this information is available on the website and has been (or will be) communicated to you from your coach as well.
Our season begins March 1st with our Sunday morning (11-12) indoor sessions at Teamworks in Acton
P Practice schedule
The practice schedule (including indoor sessions) is available on your team page.
Outdoor sessions will begin once the fields are open. Look for an email from your coach to let you know when your team’s outdoor practices will begin.
Outdoor practice sessions are held at the Horse Ring field in Bolton. The Horse Ring field is tucked away behind the Sawyer school. To access the field you enter through Mechanic Street across from the old police station. You follow that road past and around the Sawyer school and Derby field (on the right). You will see a gravel/dirt road. Continue on that (narrow) road. Parking is on the leach field. You access the field by walking down a small hill. To exit the field you do not go back through the dirt road where you entered. You should follow the road that takes you out onto the industrial back road. I know this sounds tricky but after you do it once it makes sense. Follow the traffic flow or ask someone at the field.
Coaches may need to make changes to the schedule based on weather, vacations etc., so look for updates from them throughout the season.
The game schedule will be posted on your team page as soon as it is available.
Games are played on Sundays beginning on April 12th. There will be games both Sundays during April school vacation.
Check our website for answers to many of your questions.
Your coach or team parent should be your primary point of contact going forward. Contact information is on your team page.
To access your team roster simply enter your email address and registration password on the roster tab of that page.
Please continue to check the NGL website for information in the upcoming days/weeks as well as throughout the season. We are trying to use that tool in lieu of overloading inboxes by sending multiple emails.
Email will be used as the primary form of notification so be sure to check your email and make sure your current email address is reflected on the website.
Please note, in the unlikely event of an emergency or last minute schedule change, the board and/or coaches need to be able to contact parents. If your current cell phone information is not listed on the website roster please update the website.
If your information changes during the year please be sure to edit your account.
It is imperative that the coaches be made aware of medical issues (e.g. allergy, asthma, behavioral, etc.), as they cannot address situations properly if they are not informed.
Please take a moment to talk to or email the coaches.
Also, please be sure that your current information is reflected on your NGL account. We rely on this information in the unlikely event of an emergency.
The girls are required to have a girls’ lacrosse stick, goggles, and a colored mouth guard (not white or clear).
Coaches can assist with proper stick lengths and pocket depth based on the size/age of the player. US Lacrosse has a list of approved women's lacrosse sticks
Girls who wear glasses can wear approved lacrosse goggles over their glasses unless the glasses protrude beyond the goggles or are uncomfortable. Sports glasses that meet the ASTM F803 safety standard are also permitted. Ask your eye doctor for specifics. Some brands include Liberty Sports F8 and Rec-Specs. See US Lacrosse approved goggles page for more information.
